About the Composer
Hurwit's symphony has received wide acclaim and has been recorded by the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra. The music has been performed by symphonic orchestras in Maryland, Texas, and Connecticut.
He was honored in 2009 as the recipient of the biennial American Composer Competition. The Columbia (Md.) Orchestra selected him from a group of 124 entrants.
Hurwit was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1931 where he still lives. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Tufts Medical School.
